The prerequisites for a credit card application differ depending on the credit card provider. Generally, for credit product applications through Nova Credit:
- You need to have a good or excellent credit score in your home country to qualify for premium cards:
If you’re unsure about your home country's credit score, you can double-check it before applying. - You have not built local credit history: Generally speaking, our partners will evaluate your application based on your local credit file first, if you already have established credit history. In that case, you will not be able to use your home country's credit history via Nova Credit. Your local credit report typically gets established once you’ve opened your first credit account (e.g. through a local credit card or loan). To check whether you already have a local credit report, you can use clearscore.com to access your credit file and review whether it contains a credit score.
- You should be able to prove your identity and local residential address in the application: You can generally prove your identity through a local government-issued identity document or your passport. You could prove your local address through a local bank account, or a local utility or phone bill with your name on it addressed to your localaddress. Apartment lease contracts or gym memberships are generally not accepted to verify your local address.
